Sharpstown Community Center
Located in the heart of the district at 8200 Bellaire Blvd., the Sharpstown Community Center is many things to many people. Administered by the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department, this 150-acre center includes an 18-hole golf course, olympic size pool, community building, picnic area, and playground. As importantly, the Sharpstown Community Center provides a full compliment of public programs such as summer swimming and tennis classes, enrichment courses, and after-school programs for area youngsters.
Houston Baptist University

Founded in 1960, HBU is a private university that enrolls approximately 2,600 combined graduate and undergraduate students. Student teacher ratios average 17:1, and 70 percent of the faculty hold a Ph.D. or the highest degree in their field. Although located on the doorstep of the nation's fourth largest city, the university maintains a small college feel with its beautiful 100-acre campus at U.S. 59 and Fondren. In addition to strong pre-med and nursing programs, HBU offers courses in more than 40 areas of study, including business, economics, communications, and mathematics.
Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital

Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital is a comprehensive JCAHO-accredited medical facility located at U.S. 59 and Beechnut. Now part of the Memorial Hermann network of suburban hospitals, this facility has been serving southwest Houston since 1977. A recent $50 million expansion resulted in the 1995 opening of a new pavilion dedicated to radiologic testing, surgery services, and women's services, including facilities for antepartum testing, labor and delivery, and a breast center. The pavilion also includes an expansive health and wellness room and outpatient physical therapy department.
