The District of 10-square-miles is located in Harris County and is bordered by Hillcroft on the east, Beltway 8 on the west, Westpark Tollway on the north and U.S. 59 / Bissonnet on the south.
The Greater Sharpstown Management District was created by the Texas Legislature in June 2005 to enhance the physical, social, and economic well being of the Sharpstown community. It is a governmental entity administered by a nine-member, all volunteer board of directors. Projects and services of the district are funded through 6-cents per 100 hundred dollar HCAD evaluations assessment that generates approximately $1 million in annual revenues in 2009.
In February 2007, the board of directors adopted an five-point Service and Action Plan to address Sharpstown's mobility and transportation planning, environmental and urban design elements, health and public safety initiatives, and business and economic development. Since then, the district has taken direct action to fulfill the goals outlined in this plan. The mission of the District is to attract and supplement public and private capital investment, provide professional management of the area's needs and maintain the Greater Sharpstown District as a premier place to work, live and invest.

Property Subject to Assessment. The property subject to assessment will be the land and improvements of the commercial property owners within the boundaries of the District. The following property will be exempt from assessment: single-family detached residential, duplexes, triplexes, quadraplexes, condominiums, municipalities, counties, other political subdivisions, entities exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, public utilities, and recreational property or scenic use property that meets the requirements of Section 375.163, Texas Local Government Code.
Payment is due by January 31st to Equi-Tax in order to avoid penalty and interest.
